Torrijas

 

INGREDIENTS

800 mL Milk/ Substitute

1 bread (Stale, from the day before)

2 Eggs

Orange Peel

Lemon Peel

1 Cinnammon Stick

Oil

Sugar

Cinnamon Powder

 

PREPARATION

  1. Cut the bread in thick slices.

  2. Peel the orange and the lemon.

  3. Whisk the eggs.

  4. In a tray combine the sugar and the cinnamon powder.

  5. Heat the milk with the orange peel, lemon peel and cinnamon to infuse. When it boils remove from the heat. Let it come to room temperature. The longer it stays in the milk the more it will infuse.

  6. In a large tray, place and soak the break with milk for 10 minutes total. (Suggestion to turn after 5 minutes)

  7. In a frying pan add 2 fingers height of oil. Let it warm up in medium-high temperature.

  8. Take one of the soaked bread and pass it through the eggs into the pan. Fry both sides for 3-4 minute until it is golden-brown. Repeat with as many slices as needed until the frying pan is full.

  9. Let them rest in a drying rack.

  10. Pass the bread through the sugar and cinnamon on both sides.

Enjoy. Eat them warm, cold or top them with fresh fruits.
